The LIFE Saramugo Project has a new website!

The website of the LIFE Saramugo project is already available. There, you can learn all about the saramugo (a freshwater fish species), its ecology, threats and all the activities the project will carry out to promote its conservation.

Carnival with amphibians and reptiles in S. Teotónio

Eurasian Black Vulture nests again in Southern Portugal

Two pairs of Eurasian Black Vulture started nesting in Alentejo (Southern Portugal), using artificial nesting platforms created by the LIFE-Nature project “Habitat Lince Abutre”. This can be the first step for the reestablishment of a breeding colony of this species in the South of Portugal, after several decades without breeding in this region.

Egyptian Vulture detected in a Feeding Station of the LIFE project ‘Habitat Lince Abutre’!

Last March, it was detected a new scavenger bird for the Network of the Feeding Stations for Scavenger Birds implemented by LIFE Habitat Lince Abutre – the Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus). The sighting took place at one of the feeding stations built in Mourão/Moura/Barrancos SPA by this project, more specifically in Barrancos...

In November 20, 2013 a Black Vulture with the plastic ring 1CT was photographed by the monitoring camera traps of the Feeding Station for Scavenger Birds of the Contenda Estate, in Moura, built by LPN under the scope of Habitat Lince Abutre LIFE project.

Participation in the VIII International Symposium on Wildfauna

Pedro Melo, veterinarian of Habitat Lince Abutre LIFE project, presented in the beginning of the month, in León (Spain), the preliminary results of the action that aims the evaluation of sanitary status of domestic and wild fauna that share pathologies and potential habitat with the Iberian lynx.
