Would you like to take your students on a Field Trip to experience and get to know better the territory of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area?

Take a nature walk and get to know biodiversity and geodiversity...

After the start of the Awakening for Nature project in the 2016-2017 school year, with three school clusters, this year the challenge is to extend it to all clusters/schools in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.

The Awakening for Nature project is a project that aims to support and stimulate field trips by schools, enhancing and highlighting the territory as a laboratory of bio and geodiversity in order to train students for its conservation and enhancement. The field trips are a teaching/learning strategy that, well planned and well exploited, arouses the students' interest and leads to their active participation, as they allow direct observation in a natural environment.

The Project has the following main objectives:

  • Promote an approach to the natural world;
  • To know better and characterize the geodiversity, biodiversity and cultural heritage aspects of the region;
  • Promote the interconnection between the theory of school curricula and practice;
  • Enable the relevance of the various school syllabus contents;
  • To experience situations in context that cannot be reproduced in the classroom;
  • To facilitate sociability and affectivity between the elements involved in the field trip;
  • Develop itineraries in nature and builds interpretative field guides.
