LPN joins Fauna & Flora International (FFI) in supporting the Our One Home campaign, which aims to ask governments to commit $500 billion in funding for biodiversity conservation and to put it in the hands of local actors.

The natural world is in crisis. Scientists have warned that up to a million species could be driven to extinction this century. In the last 50 years, the world's wildlife populations have seen a 70% decline, with nature being pushed into deforestation, land conversion and poaching.

This destruction of nature also damages the capacity of ecosystems to absorb and store carbon emissions, exacerbating the climate crisis.

Covid-19 is a warning - when nature is not respected, there will be consequences and human well-being will suffer. We need to change urgently, for the sake of our irreplaceable wildlife, our incredible planet and humanity itself.

We have a responsibility to future generations. Join us in calling on governments around the world to take this responsibility seriously - before it is too late!

"Our well-being, our economies, everything depends on a healthy planet, and yet we continue to neglect it. Back FFI's Our One Home campaign to put power back into the hands of the people who most need it."    Sir David Attenborough

As part of this campaign and to coincide with the United Nations Biodiversity Summit, Fauna & Flora International delivered a letter to the UN Secretary General, which LPN signed along with around 150 organizations from over 50 countries, urging member states to collectively commit an initial $500 billion in funding for nature conservation worldwide.
