Towards a bee-friendly agriculture for a healthy environment

#salvarasabelhaseosagricultores | #savebeesandfarmers

LPN joins the Save Bees and Farmers campaign which is based on the protection of bees and human health, calling on the European Commission to pass legislation to phase out synthetic pesticides by 2035, restore biodiversity and support farmers in the transition phase.

The European Citizens' Initiative "Save Bees and Farmers" is a growing network of about 200 Environmental Non-Governmental Organisations, Farmers' and Beekeepers' Organisations, Charities and Scientific Institutions across the European Union working together to reconcile agriculture, health and biodiversity.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Phase-out synthetic pesticides - Gradually phase out synthetic pesticides in EU agriculture by 80% by 2030, starting with the most hazardous, to become 100% pesticide-free by 2035.
  2. Restore biodiversity - Restore natural ecosystems in agricultural areas and transform means of production in such a way that agriculture again contributes to the promotion of biodiversity.
  3. Support farmers in the transition - Reform agriculture by prioritising small scale, diverse and sustainable farming, supporting a rapid increase in agro-ecological and organic practices, and enabling independent farmer-based training and research into pesticide- and GMO-free farming.
